Dear Valued Customer,

We would like to inform you of upcoming industry‑wide changes to SSL/TLS certificate validity periods that will affect all publicly trusted certificates, including those issued through Exitra.

These changes are mandated by the CA/Browser Forum under Ballot SC-081v3 and are being implemented by all major Certificate Authorities (CAs), including DigiCert, WebNIC, and others.

SSL/TLS Certificate Validity Reduction

Effective: 24 February 2026

In accordance with CA/Browser Forum Ballot SC-081v3, DigiCert will implement the following changes:

  • The maximum validity for newly issued or reissued public SSL/TLS certificates will be reduced to 199 days (from the current 397 days).
  • Any SSL/TLS certificate issued or reissued on or after 24 February 2026 will be limited to 199 days, regardless of the validity period requested.
  • Pending orders processed on or after this date will also be automatically truncated to 199 days.
  • Certificates issued before 24 February 2026 are not affected and will remain valid until their original expiration date.

**No immediate action is required for certificates already issued before this date.

Why These Changes Are Happening
